Missing TomodachiLife Child, Suspected Lost at Sea
This last message was from June 19th, which was four nights ago. It basically tells me that there might not be enough people out there who own the game quite yet (or who have reached the point when they can activate StreetPass on their game).
Quick update from last time: I did get a message from Maya after she hopped onto an island that I had StreetPassed (but for which I didn’t know the actual owner). Out of sheer worry, I wonder how this worked. Is the information uploaded via SpotPass? Is it centralized? How does the game guarantee that I’ll be able to track the kid?
If the reporting is via SpotPass, there must be a check in to a central server… so that it can reach me from anywhere. But, then, what happens if she gets StreetPassed to an island that is bound to some remote corner of the Earth, and, therefore, cannot send updates via SpotPass? Also, all the other concerns from last time?
Then I get told, it isn’t SpotPass, since SpotPass is one way. (But didn’t Swap Note transfer notes via SpotPass before that feature was inactivated?)
So I had this new working theory that there might be a set lock timeout. I assumed that it doesn’t just broadcast the kid to everybody I StreetPass, since it maintains a “one island at a time” tracking to report back to home base. Basically, when I StreetPassed somebody, it would put a timed lock on my game and already pass me some information about their island… and the other person would also get timed use. When the time runs out, I get a message… and the other person sees her departure.
A few hours after I had formulated this theory, I received a message from Maya from an island I have never myself StreetPassed. And I realized that my messages from Maya are coming in with a SpotPass notification… and my message about imports are coming in with a StreetPass notification?
Back to first theory then. Except now I’m not getting any messages. From a quick search online, I see that somebody else has gotten a couple of messages from their traveler in the same couple of days when their traveler was on the relay.
Where are you, Maya?
I have added Robo Rider, Bio Rider, Ouja, Birth, Posideon, Aqua and The White Wizard!
(I did not make any of these patterns. Please be thankful to the great people of Pixiv.com that brought us these wonderful creations!)
SHOWA ERA RIDERS:
Kamen Rider 1
well, i WASN’T going to play ACNL… since i thought the first game on the gamecube was enough for me… and i actually resisted this for about a year… but now that i see this post……………….. i just might have to start. =_____=;; …………someday……….
This is either a lesson to NOT do shrooms…
Or how to brush your teeth.
Has anyone seen my child?
Her name is Maya, and she’s from Friendzone Island. She was last seen hopping on a boat to a stranger’s island on the morning of June 16th in Washington. o________o
Seriously, though. I’ve grown quite attached to the virtual child born out of this virtual game, haha. (It doesn’t help that [a] I’m quite invested with the characters to begin with, since most of the Miis on our game are our real friends and I’ve been making sure that people end up with the right partner… as with real life XD and [b] she’s the kid between my husband and myself, not the other couples lol)
You get slightly less than a week with the kid, and then they force you to make a decision on whether to move them out to their own apartment (making them just like any other resident Mii) or let them travel. A friend convinced me to let the kid travel - which entails having her being passed via StreetPass. Supposedly, you’ll receive letters from them every once in a while during their travels… but I haven’t seen much documentation or anecdotal reference on how that works, really, if they end up going “farther” than you can “reach”? It seems like she only gets StreetPassed to only one “island” at a time… so what happens if the next island she goes to is on a DS that’s traveling to another state? What happens if she lands on an island where the game owner doesn’t care about the game (and doesn’t play it) anymore? How do I get the updates (as I’m supposed to get) or get her visits? Is this something that Nintendo is tracing over SpotPass? Or are we wrong and she actually gets passed to everyone that is StreetPassed (except the original island until she gains a particular level/time)? There aren’t that many people playing the game yet (we’ve StreetPassed less than 10 people playing it, so far)… so we don’t know how this works.
I got a letter with an update today, only because she was on my husband’s island (he has his own copy of the game), and we StreetPass each other all the time… but we encountered a different player today (who we don’t actually know).
